Introduction to Rigging: Fundamentals for New Learners

Description:
Step into the exciting world of rigging with this foundational class designed for newcomers! Learn the essential skills and safety practices required to lift and suspend show elements with confidence. Whether you're looking to become a ground rigger or work at heights, this hands-on workshop covers the basics of rigging gear, truss assembly, motor operation, and force management.

What You'll Learn:

  • How to identify and inspect rigging gear like shackles, wire ropes, and slings.
  • Safe truss assembly techniques and motor setup best practices.
  • The science of force, gravity, and how they affect rigging systems.
  • Critical safety measures to protect yourself and others on the job site.
  • Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

This class is perfect for those interested in backstage and live event production who want to develop safe and efficient rigging practices.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • The learner must have worked a call from the referral hall, worked under a collective bargaining agreement, or be a current member of IATSE Local 122.
  • This is an in person class. This class has limited attendance and all attendees must have a reservation; therefore, it will be treated like a job call.
  • If you are unable to attend, please cancel your ticket or email education@iatse122.org.
  • Tardiness and/or No-Call-No-Show will be reported to the IATSE Local 122 Compliance Committee.
