About Rhythm Workshop

This workshop is an open, hands-on exploration of rhythm designed for musicians, dancers, and curious beginners alike. No experience necessary, and all disciplines and levels are welcome. Through call-and-response, movement, and group exercises, we'll build an intuitive, body focused sense of rhythm that goes beyond counting and into feeling.

About this Session

In this session, we'll dig into the relationship between clave and polyrhythms, exploring how this foundational rhythmic pattern interlocks with layered, competing pulses to shape the music of Afro-Cuban and Afro-Caribbean traditions and their influence across jazz and popular music today. We'll close with an open jam, so instrumentalists, bring your axe and be ready to put these concepts into practice alongside the group.
