ARTIST BIOS & INFO

•Rachel Jay•

racheljaymusic.com

Rachel Jay finds solace in the honest expression of her inner world through music. Her songs offer reflections about her life’s journey, which she delivers through a delicate and sultry medley of folk, jazz and soul.

Rachel is in the process of recording her first EP, set to release sometime this year. Her previously released singles can be found across all major music streaming platforms.

In addition to pursuing her original music, Rachel makes a living as a gigging musician, playing a variety of covers and originals at resorts, restaurants, weddings and music venues around San Diego. She incorporates artists such as Norah Jones and Amy Winehouse, and genres like jazz, folk, and pop to create a mellow listening experience for all.

•Anna Ballew•

linktr.ee/annaballew

Growing up surrounded by the mountains of Missoula Montana, Anna’s introduction into her artistry was through classic folk singers like Jackson Browne, James Taylor, and Bonnie Rait. Growing up, her father would sing and play guitar, and they bonded over their mutual love of music. From bluegrass fiddle, to a cappella groups, to funk bands, music has always played a pivotal role in Anna’s life. Prior to pursuing music professionally at the age of 25, Anna explored different social science fields, educating herself on the human condition with the intention of bridging divides amongst people and cultures.

When she arrived in San Diego in the spring of 2021 and started connecting with musicians and other artists, Anna realized that she could combine her worlds: music and humanitarian efforts.

She’s been performing at restaurants, live music venues, weddings, and house concerts in the San Diego area for the last three years. Anna released her first single in January of this year, and is currently working on an album set to be released early 2025. Anna’s intention is to use her calming musical presence and passion for justice to affect positive change in the world.

•Joy Fuliga•

linktr.ee/joyfuliga

Joy Fuliga is an SD-based singer-songwriter, using melodies and poetry to make sense of life's troubles. Drawing upon various experiences such as navigating the tensions between individualism and non-western collectivism, mental health and spirituality, intergenerational and cultural dynamics, and the unfolding of one's self-concept; she seeks to highlight the ways that grief and joy can both be honored and celebrated. Through her music, Joy attempts to hold space for the divine, euphoric and painful, the good and the difficult.

•Shhhhh•

shhhhhtheband.com

Shhhhh is a Southern California-based Americana/Folk duo made up of Rheanna Downey and Molly Jenson, both with 20 years of solo artist experience behind them. These two women write heartfelt songs in the style of old country and new folk with a twist of 90’s female singer-songwriter. The two have come together to form a supergroup that is sure to rattle at least a few cages. Shhhhh represents women in music especially in the second half of life. They stand for women supporting women, the dissolution of competition in the music industry, and the idea that there is room enough for everyone. It only takes listening to a song or going to a show to understand the importance of what these two are putting out into the world. Shhhhh may be in their infancy but they sure as shhhhhit aren’t a high school garage band.

Shhhhh released a 5 song EP “Seriously, Shhhhh” in August 2023.

•Astra Kelly•

Artist, songwriter, and Chicago native, Astra Kelly, is a pure talent with a lyric-based, melodic sound and soaring vocals. Eclectic in style and genre, her music draws from her soulful Chicago roots fused with indie folk and alt country. Her performances are passionate, full of energy, and a powerful expression of her art and sound. Her songs often mirror the beautiful grit of being alive and open the way for a thought provoking and emotive musical experience. She’s a career artist who has toured the country extensively, and has released ten records on her own label. In 2022, she embarked upon “The Making Music Tour,” an epic RV journey around the US to rediscover her creative mojo after the Pandemic, write a new record, and to allow space for grieving the loss of her Mom. The resulting album, “Soul Fires,” is nine songs that reflect spiritual/emotional healing and transformation, and embrace the power within universal love, the open road, nature, and the mysticism of life. Astra describes the sound as “Folk Rock bitten by the South.”
