Workshop for K-12 Educators, Administrators, and Counselors

A restorative culture in schools is built upon a strong foundation of proactive tools and systems.

This 1 ½ day workshop for designed for educators seeking to advance and deepen their Restorative Practices approach, with a specific focus on:

  1. Responsive Tools to prevent, minimize, and address harm in the moment
  2. Responsive Tools focusing on follow-up, repair, and re-integration.

Leave energized and ready to activate and fine-tune an SEL-aligned ecosystem of proactive and responsive strategies to promote healing and growth for all community members.

Learn SEL Tools for Restorative Practices:

Review proactive ways to build empathy and effective strategies to teach and practice SEL Tools, including:

  • Reflective Listening
  • Boundaries and Perspective-Taking
  • Win-Win Solutions & the Contribution Tool
  • The role of culture and personal history (adult and student) in approaches to conflict, as well as the influence of media and peers


Workshop Goals:

This workshop will inspire and equip educators with evidence-based, best practices for building and repairing relationships. The workshop offers structures to build a more restorative school culture. In this workshop, participants will:

  • Review SEL-aligned tier 1 strategies to foster positive classroom cultures. This will include a brief overview of IFSEL’s Six Foundational Skills and mindsets that equip students to play their role in a Restorative Culture.
  • Learn and practice ways to interrupt and minimize harm ‘in the moment.’
  • Develop a choice board of responsive restorative practices. This will include a deep exploration of different types of student reflections.
  • Learn and experience a simple but profound model for facilitating restorative conversations.
  • Explore a tool for adult reflection and capacity building after incidents where harm occurred.
  • Collaborate with a community of educators dedicated to fostering positive change.

Cancellation Policy

Registration fees will be refunded at 50% of the registration ticket price paid, less the $50 refund processing cost, if requested in writing more than two-weeks prior to the start of the course. From two weeks prior to the start of the course until the day before the course begins, refunds requested in writing will be granted a credit for the full value of their registration ticket price.
