About this event

  • 4 hours 30 minutes

Currituck County 4-H is hosting a renewable energy workshop for youth ages 10 and up on July 10, 2024. Participants will meet the 4-H staff at the NC Cooperative Extension office located at 120 Community Way in Barco at 11:00am. Participants will return to the NC Cooperative Extension office at 3:30 for pick up. Please have your child bring a bag lunch.

Participants will explore the new and emerging technology associated with energy produced from renewable sources. They will design, construct and test a “wind turbine” and a solar powered boat or car. Both of the activities provide youth the opportunity to learn how renewable sources of energy are collected, stored, and used to provide electricity.

Space is limited and registration deadline is July 8th. There is a $12 registration fee. This may be paid online through eventbrite or you may pay with cash or check. Cash and check payments need to be received within five days of your registration. If you are paying by check please make it payable to NCSU, and mail it to NCCE 120 Community Way Barco NC 27917. All participants must also be enrolled in 4-H Online for the 2024 program year; the link to that portion of the registration process is https://v2.4honline.com .
