About this event

  • Event lasts 4 hours

Our central Illinois regional African American Conference in Peoria, Release the Silence: Our Voice, Our Power, Our Community, will navigate topics such as:

  • Knowing the warning signs of dementia,
  • How to have an effective doctor's appointment
  • What do the next steps look like after receiving a diagnosis

This program is designed for those who are caregivers of a person with Alzheimer's, individuals who want to learn more about the disease, and health professionals wanting to learn about health disparities that affect individuals in the African American community.

We are excited to host the Alzheimer's Association's Chief Diversity Officer, Dr. Carl Hill, as our keynote speaker. He will be coming to Peoria from Washington, D.C. to share with us insights about how Alzheimer's and dementia impacts the African American community.

Doors open at 8:30am. A continental breakfast and light lunch options will be provided at the conference. This is a free event and registration is strongly encouraged. To register via phone, please call the Alzheimer's Association's helpline: 800.272.3900.
