No more trying to be mindful alone.The Hive exists to develop creative, compassionate, and mindfully-engaged citizens in the Cincinnati region through small group classes and workshops. We have curated a collective of proven teachers, facilitators, and spiritual directors to help guide your learning in mindfulness, contemplation, art and action. We hope you'll try a class and like it enough to become a regular member. Your partnership helps make this nonprofit possible.(As a social enterprise, the Hive shares our story with photos of classes and events. The Hive: A Center for Contemplation, Art, and Action

This course will not meet January 20 or February 17.We might not be able to control the environments in which people live, however, we do have an innate capacity to be a champion for helping them grow their resilience. The way we be with people is far more important than what we do. This series will explore a trauma responsive communication technique that you can use in low stress and high conﬂict moments alike. This way of being will empower professionals, parents, and community members to respond vs. react as a way to join someone on their healing journey and build resilience factors such as Voice/Choice/Control, Self-Esteem and Positive Safe Relationships. Trauma doesn’t happen in isolation and neither does healing. Healing happens in relationship and we have a unique opportunity to offer the felt sense of being seen and heard with whomever we are in relationship.Nothing has the power to heal like supportive relationships. Sarah Buffie, founding director of Soul Bird Consulting, helps organizations and service providers, educators and families disrupt current models of thinking by building empathy and connection through the power of community and storytelling. Her focus is to spread awareness about how trauma affects the brain and body, and teach effective approaches for developing resilience. Sarah received her Masters in Social Work from Northern Kentucky University with a focus in trauma, positive psychology, and mindfulness. As a result of years working closely in her Cincinnati community through her Americorps service as well as abroad with her Peace Corps service in Namibia, Africa, Sarah brings a unique community building lens to her work.
