Citizens UK

The Welcome Summit Powered by Citizens UK, Christian Aid, Refugee Action, Refugee Council, Student Action for Refugees and City of Sanctuary is a gathering for the groups behind the Refugees Welcome movement from right across the country. 
It's a moment, one year on from the tragic death of Aylan Kurdi, to come together and celebrate what we've achieved, take stock of the British response to date, and to plan, train and act together to build a more welcoming Britain. We will also use the time to build accountable relationships with key actors, from government ministers to UN agencies, around key issues including the protection of refugee children, development of community sponsorship, and building of strong communities.
The global refugee crisis shows no sign of ending and it's more important to make the case for welcome than ever before, but on our own it can be isolating, hard and lonely work so coming together both for action but also to celebrate, connect and learning is vital.

10:15 Doors open, refreshments and cultural performances
PART 1: 11:00 - 12:45 Welcome Roll Call of Groups Taking Stock Celebrating Success Public Accountability
LUNCH
PART 2: 13:30 - 16:00 Building a shared story of welcome Mass Training Workshops led by top specialists and local groups including: communications, child refugees, community sponsorship, trafficking and local welcome Evaluation and Close
