Reentry Simulation

Reentry Simulation

Overview

Join us for an interactive Reentry Simulation and lived experience panel exploring the realities of returning home after incarceration.

Join us on Friday, November 13th for our third biennial Reentry Simulation!

Reentry is rarely simple. Individuals often return home navigating supervision requirements, employment, housing, transportation, treatment, family responsibilities, finances, and other needs—all while trying to rebuild stability in their lives. This simulation gives participants an opportunity to experience some of those barriers and better understand how communities can support successful reentry.

During the approximately 1 hour and 45 minute simulation, each participant will assume the identity of an individual recently released from incarceration. Using a unique “Life Card,” participants will navigate four simulated weeks of post-release life, working to complete required tasks, access community resources, meet supervision requirements, and avoid consequences that could lead to reincarceration. Each “week” takes place in a fast-paced 15-minute period, demonstrating how quickly barriers can compound when time, money, transportation, and resources are limited.

Following the simulation, participants will share lunch and hear from a panel of individuals with lived experience of incarceration and reentry. Panelists will share their own experiences returning to the community, including the barriers they encountered, the support that made a difference, and what they wish communities better understood about reentry.

Whether you work in the justice system, behavioral health, recovery, social services, healthcare, education, or simply want to better understand reentry in our community, we invite you to join us for an engaging and thought-provoking experience.

Registration is $15, and scholarships are available. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged.
