Tired of the rancor? Want to reduce political polarization?
Braver Angels is the country’s largest grassroots depolarization organization (www.braverangels.org). If you are concerned about the political heat in our country and want to help break stereotypes, please come join us for this FREE flagship Red/Blue workshop. It was created by one of Braver Angels founders, a family therapist, and the format has been used all over the country with great success.
What to expect
The Red/Blue workshop brings together even numbers of conservative/Republican/red leaning voters with liberal/Democratic/blue leaning voters for a day of respectful dialogue and structured activities designed to help us understand each other better. You will be only speaking for yourself and your unique perspective, not debating. We come here to learn about each other and listen actively to both (and all) political “sides” to help participants clarify disagreements, reduce stereotyped thinking, and discover common values. The workshop has been proven time and time again to reduce the rancor in our communities over politics.
Saturday, June 13, 2026, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
(with a lunch break)
Please bring a bag lunch; we will provide coffee and snacks.
Who can attend?
Anyone interested in developing a deeper understanding of, and connection with, people whose political beliefs differ from their own is welcome. There are two ways to join a Red/Blue Workshop: as a Participant or as an Observer.
- Participants engage in small - and large - group discussions with individuals of both the same and different political persuasions. Participants identify as “red” or “blue” leaning. We strive for an equal balance of red and blue participants: 6 to 8 people on each side.
- Observers watch and listen, but do not participate in the discussions.
Workshop Goals
- To better understand the experiences and beliefs of those on the other side of the political divide;
- To seek out areas of common ground in addition to acknowledging and respecting difference;
- To gain insights that might help to heal the increasing polarization in our community and the nation
