About this event

  • 3 days 6 hours

Join the Access Fund Conservation Team and Local Climbing Organizations for a weekend stewardship workshop! This special event is designed for community advocates who are invested in learning the skills to best steward climbing areas and resources throughout the Southeast region.

The focus for the Trails Skills Workshop is on skill development, not accomplishing big projects. The Conservation Team will provide each attendee with the basics of more technical rock work and hard skills for climbing area resource protection. Participants will learn how to identify solutions to address major use patterns and mitigate climber impacts through the use of dry-stone masonry and volunteer resources. For a general schedule of the weekend's events, see below.

Camping is available all weekend for workshop participants at the Land of the Arches campground.

Event Schedule:

Thursday, June 6; evening: Participants arrive at the Land of the Arches Campground.

Friday, June 7; 9am-3pm: Morning classroom session at LOTA: Project solutions & design, use patterns, strategies, utilizing volunteer resources. Afternoon at MFRP project site: project selection, identifying project requirements and resources, how to lead an adopt-a-crag

Saturday & Sunday, June 8 &9; 9am-3pm: Miller Fork Recreational Preserve: Hard skill development: project implementation, best practices, tool use & tricks of the trade.

Please keep in mind the following:
