About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours

Every year, the REC distributes 10,000+ seedlings to our Community and School Gardens network gardens as a part of our food justice work. Join REC staff, friends, and neighbors to help unload seedlings being delivered to the REC.

We’ll work together unload 80+ trays of seedlings and then sort them by garden so they can go to their new garden homes.

You can expect to be working outside with a large group. This event is RAIN OR SHINE! Please wear comfortable, close-toed shoes, comfortable clothing, and join us for as much as little of this shift as you can!

Frequently asked questions

Who can volunteer?

REC welcomes support from volunteers of all ages and experience levels. Our open farm volunteer hours are a great introductory experience to our work for any age. The YouthGROW farm is not ADA accessible and has uneven surfaces.

What should I expect?

Expect to be moving! Volunteers will help sort seedlings by type and put together 'orders' for each of our Community Gardens. We will have music going and will keep it fun! Volunteers should expect to be on their feet the whole time but of course, breaks are expected and encouraged!

How should I prepare?

You should bring water, dress according to the weather, and must wear closed-toe shoes.

What if it rains?

This event will only cancelled in the event of very heavy rain, lightning, or heavy winds. If conditions are safe enough then this event is on!
