Intended for experienced working group members as well as new rebels, this training offers the most comprehensive view yet offered in NYC of Extinction Rebellion’s structure, decision-making practices and facilitation toolkit. It will be interactive and full of chances to try stuff!Outline schedule below - this is subject to change, please check back the week of Jan 20th for slightly revised content:9:30am: Arrival time10:00am-10:25am: Brotherman warmup10:40am -12:30pm: Self Organizing Systems with Jesse Marshall:A) The philosophy of distributed power and equal voice behind XR’s working group structure;B) Working group mandates and links;C) The integrative decision-making process and the idea of an objection;D) Circle roles like coordinator and facilitator, role terms, and how to select for roles.12:30pm - 1:30pm: Lunch break - On your own or potluck!1:30pm - 2:45pm: Fun with Facilitation! With Jimena Veloz:A) Present short version of principlesB) Learn “meeting hygiene” you can use today, like timesharing, timekeeping, progressive stackC) Intro to Facilitation: how to &#x27;actively mitigate for power&#x27; in meetings, meeting agreements, alternate ways of structuring speaking and sharing3:00pm- 4:30pm: The Deliberate Rebellion: Local Democracy HubsA) Relational culture at the heart of democracyB) The demand for representation (liz); New York Speaks story (Bob)C) Local democracy hubs hosted by NGroups; emergent action assemblies in the streetD) Explore what facilitation in a Citizens Assembly (XR Demand #3) looks like4:40pm - 5:30pm: A warm wrap-up with Regenerative Culture Practice &lt;3: Relating person-to-person and at scale: Empathy circles + other ideas you can bring to gatherings and actions.The ticket price is to cover the cost of space.
