Reading Partners - Information Session

Founded in 1945 by Viennese actor/director Herbert Berghof, HB Studio is one of New York’s original acting studios. As a nonprofit organization, we support vigorous, lifelong practice in the theatre arts, grounded in practical training. We cultivate an environment where artists take risks, refine their craft, and grow through dedication and discovery. Open to all with a serious interest in theatre and film, HB fosters a vibrant community of actors, playwrights, and directors committed to meaningful artistic work.

Reading Partners empowers students to succeed in reading and in life by connecting passionate community volunteers to provide one-on-one literacy tutoring. In New York, 8 out 10 fourth graders from low-income families cannot read at grade level. The program delivers a highly effective curriculum that has helped tens of thousands of children master reading comprehension, fluency, and sight-word reading. Reading Partners is currently present in 17 elementary schools throughout New York City, serving 920 students! Reservations are full.  Please add your name to the waitlist to be notified of openings.  On the evening of the performance, at approximately 5 minutes before curtain, unclaimed reservations will be open to  the waitlist on a first come, first served, basis.
