React Hooks In-Depth - Full Day Workshop . (Remote Available)

About This Workshop
Learn how to write React for 2020 and beyond with hooks! React has changed drastically in the past year, and if you’re still using class-based components, patterns such as render-props or HOCs, or Redux, it’s time to learn the newest techniques!
What You’ll Learn
- How and why React has changed and the philosophy behind hooks
- All of the React hooks and their use cases
- How hooks and function components should change your code style and habits
- How to write custom, reusable hooks
- Third-party libraries that have adopted hook-based APIs such as React Router, React Bootstrap, and more
- How React hooks and context can replace Redux in many cases
- How to get increased performance using hooks with real world examples
How to Prepare
- This course will be hosted in person at Rithm School and streamed live online using Zoom and Slack
- You will need access to a laptop or computer with a working webcam and microphone as well as a strong internet connection
- Pre-work and course set up information will be emailed to all students signed up around 24 hours before (and again an hour before) the course begins
- Each individual course participant must have purchased a ticket
- A laptop, Mac (preferred), Linux, or Windows, with a minimum of 8G (16G preferred) available memory and 200 MB of space available to download applications’
Prerequisites
Students who join this course must have an understanding of React, JavaScript, and Git fundamentals. Here is self-assessment checklist, if you can answer “YES” to every question below, you are a perfect fit for this course!
- I have written React code in a large or production application
- I understand what a REST API is
- I can make an AJAX request using fetch or axios
- I know how to fork, clone, pull, and push to a repository on GitHub
This is an Intermediate level course. If you are a beginner or do not meet all of the prerequisites above, we recommend that you start with the Intro to Modern React Workshop.
