Rawhide Foundation Immersion

Rawhide Foundation Immersion

Banbury Customs MakerspaceAfton, WY
Saturday, Mar 7 from 4 pm to 10 pm
Overview

6-hour immersion into rawhide process and leather braiding basics. Learn the craft, explore commitment, and plan your path forward.

Rawhide work is a rare and traditional craft that requires patience, respect for material, and an understanding of process. This immersive evening is designed for those who are genuinely curious about learning rawhide braiding and want to explore whether they are ready to commit to the full journey.

During this 6-hour immersion, participants will be introduced to the entire rawhide process—from preparation to finished braided work—while gaining hands-on experience with the fundamentals of braiding using leather. Leather is used in this first course so students can build skill, confidence, and muscle memory before working with rawhide in future sessions.

This course also outlines the pathway forward:

  • An overview of a future rawhide project series and courses
  • Discussion of time, cost, and commitment required
  • Guidance in selecting a project for those who choose to continue

This is not a casual drop-in workshop. It is a foundational immersion intended to help participants decide whether they wish to move forward into deeper study and material responsibility.

Cost: $150 per person
Who this is for:

  • Individuals interested in traditional craft and heritage skills
  • Those considering committing to a longer rawhide series
  • People who value learning process, not just product

Completion of this immersion is required to participate in the next rawhide project course.
