Raucous is an ever-evolving collective of theatre makers, technologists and designers who aredriven by what happens when immersive storytelling & creative technology collide.Together we harness different creative cultures and practices to build and tell stories that are vibrant, vital and visceral, creating theatre stories that have digital technology sewn into their very narrative fabric, underscored by original music, film and performance.Previous shows:The Stick House(2015) andIce Road(2017).

A Raucous Exchanges workshop looking at building narrative through binaural sound.

Raucous is an ever-evolving collective of theatre makers, technologists and designers who investigate how theatre can be made more immediate, urgent and immersive for an audience.Raucous’ work is shaped by its exploration with collaborators and we are frequently invited to share our methods with fellow creatives. The Exchanges sessions have been created in response to the demand from writers and theatremakers wanting to explore and experiment with new tools and technology. They have been designed to be delivered with industry professionals, surveying how storytelling worlds might evolve when new tools are used to build narrative, evoking a more heightened and immediate experience for an audience.These workshops are for those writers/theatremakers who are curious as to how their narratives might shift or expand when they work with a range of diverse disciplines.The sessions are part workshop, part masterclass and will enable you to consider your own practice/writing whilst engaging with international collaborators to openly share skills, challenges and knowledge.Each session will last two and a quarter hours and will be held digitally through Zoom. The sessions will be divided into creative practice explorations and case study sharings, with participation through tasks and discussion.The Zoom link and further instructions will be sent via email after booking.Ghosts in the Machine - Raucous Exchanges - Session 2Narrative building through binaural soundOnline workshop and discussion with binaural sound designer Helen Skiera and playwright/Raucous’ Creative Director, Sharon Clark.Helen and Sharon collaborated on The Foundling, an at-home, table top, immersive theatre experience that used AR and binaural sound. During this collaboration they explored how storytelling can be lifted by immersive sound, how this can engender a feeling of personalisation and intimacy in the audience member and how it can construct a visceral sense of world.About Helen SkieraHelen describes herself as a Sound Maker. She is a sound designer and composer who has worked with organisations such as The Royal Court, Bristol Old Vic, Shunt and Clean Break, and with Simon McBurney and Gareth Fry on his acclaimed binaural sound theatre production The Encounter. Helen has also worked in a wide range of online games, binaural audio installations and audio drama.This event is non-refundable.
