TBEY is an educational organization for the urban community where classes dedicated to the arts are taught to youth members who otherwise might have little or no opportunity to learn these skills because of location or cost. TBEY is a multi-programmed, youth serving agency designed to enhance the overall mission to promote the arts. TBEY has its own unique qualities and are committed to teach on an arts educated level.TBEY offers opportunities to improve education and personal development. It will also offer the opportunity to build the urban community and personal capacity to all through positive reinforcement. TBEY will provide a place where the youth can gather and link with peers that have the same passion and interest in the arts. An important criterion for success will be the degree to which TBEY becomes an integral part and make a positive impact to all youth that are and will be a participant of TBEY.TBEY is a place where the youth call their own, express themselves through the arts, be creative and have fun at the same time.

TBEY Arts Center presents Rap-Punzel In this funny, pun-filled version of the classic fairy tale, a hip group of rappers narrates the story, which is told almost completely in verse!  Never sing-songy and always entertaining, the rhymes are skillfully woven as the rappers arrange themselves into various set pieces, such as the witch’s wall and the garden that grows all kinds of greens!  When a doting husband climbs (and crashes over!)  the wall to steal the sought-after garden greens to satisfy his wife’s overpowering craving, the witch demands their unborn baby as her revenge.  After all, those garden greens are the witch’s babies, so it’s an even exchange in her eyes!  As the story goes, the hen-pecked husband’s hands are tied, so the lovely baby Rapunzel is raised by the witch in an ivory tower.  Soon Rapunzel yearns for life beyond her window sill, and when a handsome rescuer appears, her overprotective “adoptive” mother witch fears she will lose her daughter forever.  Early Bird Discount Get your tickets for $2 off if you order by Thursday, 6/1/2023.
