Raised beds have many benefits for urban and suburban gardeners. Perennial cut flower, herb, and vegetable gardening in a raised bed is a successful method for increasing production. Raised beds are beneficial for water usage while assisting with pest and disease management. During this class, W.S. Jenks and Son&#x27;s urban farming expert will walk you through different raised bed construction methods, and you will have the opportunity to learn from doing on Jenk&#x27;s rooftop garden center. A﻿ll participants will receive a 15% discount on all building supplies and soil for constructing their own raised bed.

A﻿bout the teacher:Dan Weisshaar is originally from Lingle, Wyoming, and has been a resident of Wyoming Ave NW in Adams Morgan, DC, for over 14 years. Dan has a Master of Professional Science degree in Urban Agriculture from the University of the District of Columbia and is W.S. Jenks and Son&#x27;s Garden Center Manager. Dan has 10-plus years in workshop leadership.
