Join us for a special Photography Workshop Ballet Dancers performing dance moves in the rain!

This event is for photographers of all levels intending to practice or perfecting photographing dancers as they perform.

Featuring Dancers: Sarah Simon Wolff @sarah_simon_wolff AND Alison Bartels @alisonbartels

YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS THIS!

What fun to create a space to shoot some cool ballet adn contemporary ballet dance moves with these beautiful ballerinas. Sarah and Alison will dance short pieces from different dance segments. They will perform, repeat, pause and pose and hold. We repeat segments so that you can try out different techniques, check your shots and make changes, if any.

The workshop is curated by Sangeeta Yesley, Director at Creative Performances.

A little about the dancers:

Sarah Simon Wolff - A native of northern Michigan, Sarah left home at age 13 to attend Canada’s National Ballet School. Upon graduating in 2006 she guested with The Dutch National Ballet before joining The National Ballet of Canada for 8 years followed by a season with BalletMet. She then became the director of the ballet program for Company Dance Traverse before moving to New York. She has guested with New York Dance Project, Grand Rapids Ballet, Fenton Ballet Theater, Ballet Minnesota, and Traverse City Dance Project. She’s a passionate teacher, mentor and choreographer with original works placing first in YAGP & NYCDA competitions. She is a certified Level 2 Yoga Nidra meditation teacher and loves integrating mindfulness and recovery into her ballet coaching. Sarah is a rehearsal director for New York Dance Project and on faculty at Broadway Dance Center. She is a passionate teacher, mentor, freelance performer and dance photography model, and is continuing to pursue meditation, acting, and music.

Alison Bartels is a professional ballet dancer based in New York City and she is currently a company dancer with Ballet Des Ameriques. She has performed professionally with Virginia National Ballet and Bowen McCauley Dance Company and danced soloists roles at the Kennedy Center. She has a BFA in Ballet Performance from University of Cincinnati - College Conservatory of Music.

E VENT DETAILS:

Date: June 8, 2024, SATURDAY

Time: 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. If time permits, photographers may book one-on-one shoots with dancers for 15 min, for additional cost.

Place: FD Studio, Metro 5, 1003 Metropolitan Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11211.

Duration: Total duration 2 hrs.

Tickets: Early bird $75 until May 31, General admission $90.

Space is limited, please book your spot soon! Please bring your own photo equipment. Please note that there won't be any instruction or any instructor. We expect the attending photographers to have prior knowledge of photographing and try this workshop with dancers to practice or for a new experience or to build their portfolios for dance photography.

The rain room has Large Black Cyc wall & Rain Features. With the Black Cyc Wall, flash use is highly recommended. No more than three flashes per photographer. Note that your flashes will need to be remotely triggered. Optical triggering just won't work with many people trying to take pictures simultaneously.

All attendees are requested to arrive at the studio by 12:30 p.m. to set up. Workshop will commence promptly at 1 p.m.

Model release forms will be provided.
