Montclair Early Music (“MEM”) is honored to join Out Montclair and a host of local organizations, businesses, residents, and visitors in celebrating Pride Month 2023. MEM's concert, “Rainbow Rhapsody,” will feature LGBTQIA+ composers, including Handel, Corelli, Copland, Britten, Lully, Poulenc, Bernstein, Ethyl Smyth, Billy Strayhorn, Cole Porter, and more. “It is important to include these composers in this particular program, and celebrate their contributions to music,” says Julienne Pape, MEM’s founder and Artistic Director. “Many of them never felt safe acknowledging their true identity, and I am delighted to inform or remind the public of the extraordinary contributions of LGBTQIA+ artists throughout the centuries.”
About the organizer
