Bringing Youth, Community and Nature Together for 25 years!The Friends of Van Cortlandt Park (FVCP), an independent community based organization, actively promotes the conservation and improvement of Van Cortlandt Park, the third largest park in NYC, through environmental education and restoration and enhancement of the Park, its forests and trails.FVCP have grown to become Van Cortlandt Parks’ primary free educational organization– developing educational and stewardship programs for over 6,500 children and adults each year.

Bronx Community Board 8, Friends of Van Cortlandt Park, State Senator Jeffrey Klein, Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz, Councilman Andrew Cohen and the NYC Department of Environmental Protection are coming together to distribute 100 rain barrels to NYC residents. - Using a rain barrel is a Green way for homeowners to save money on their water bills.- Rainwater is a Green way to water the garden and wash your car- Rain barrels reduce flooding and pollution by reducing the water entering our sewer system- Each 55 gall closed top rain barrel comes complete with hook up kit and instructions to attach to your leader (downspout)Due to high volume of requests, please get your "ticket" for a rain barrel in advance. Walk-ins are welcomed, but will not be guaranteed a rain barrel.
