Rail Hopper Workshop

Join Newcastle artists Ellie and Pete to build a human powered Rail Cart and Hopper for the Cementa festival using recycled materials!

When: Wednesday 8th &Thursday 9th July

Time: 9-12pm

Where: Kandos Scout Hall

All materials and some snacks provided

In this workshop we will be using mixed locally sourced materials to build our own small rail cart models, you will be taught how to use new tools and materials.

This workshop will have us thinking about how can we make a rail cart that moves with human power? What does this cart transport? Does this cart just take from the land or does it also give back? Could it carry seeds, water, plants, soil or stories?

The models produced in this workshop will help design a real life sized cart that will be built for the Cementa festival in September.

Creative materials may include:

Repurposed timber and scrap materials

Clay

Paint and drawing materials

String and rope

Textiles and fibres

Natural and foraged plant materials
