A refined solo sitar concert exploring the depth and improvisational beauty of Hindustani classical Ragas.

Raga Reflections is a solo sitar concert by glpbally acclaimed Sitarist Lakshay Mohan centred on the expressive depth and improvisational beauty of Hindustani classical music. Presented in the intimate acoustics of St. Giles Without Cripplegate, the concert explores the raga as a living form, shaped gradually through melody, nuance, and rhythmic development.

The performance follows the traditional structure of a classical sitar recital, moving from unmetered, meditative exploration to rhythmic elaboration accompanied on tabla. Rather than a fixed programme, each raga evolves organically in the moment, guided by mood, resonance, and musical intuition. This is an invitation to listen attentively — and to experience raga as a contemplative musical journey.

Lakshay Mohan

Lakshay Mohan is an internationally acclaimed sitarist and one of the leading exponents of Indian classical music of his generation. Active professionally since 2009, his work spans solo performances, jugalbandis, cross-genre collaborations, and a GiMA Award nomination for Best Classical Instrumentalist.

Alongside his brother Aayush Mohan, he performs as the Mohan Brothers, the first Indian musicians to perform at the Grammy Museum. After hearing their jugalbandi in 2012, Pandit Ravi Shankar personally launched them for their debut USA tour under his foundation.

Lakshay is a grand-disciple of Pandit Ravi Shankar and has trained under eminent gurus including Pt. Balwant Rai Verma, Pt. Uma Shankar Mishra, Pt. Tejendra Majumdar, and the Gundecha Brothers, placing him firmly within the Senia–Maihar Gharana tradition.

He is also an active TEDx speaker, has conducted numerous workshops on Indian classical music at Wayne State University, Detroit, and across India, and has released several albums including The Majestic Court, Echoes from the Yellow Land, and The Hidden Harmony, available on all major digital platforms.

In March 2022, he performed at the Royal Festival Hall, Southbank Centre, London as part of the Ravi Shankar Centenary Concert, alongside Anoushka Shankar, John McLaughlin, and other eminent musicians.
