Radical Ethnography

NYC Resistor is a hacker collective with a shared space located in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn. We meet regularly to share knowledge, hack on projects together, and build community. Our interests range from laser-cutting to knitting, and programming to pop-up books.All NYC Resistor events are strictly 18+, and attendees are expected to abide by our Code of Conduct, which can be found at https://www.nycresistor.com/participate/.

<DIV><SPAN>Radical Ethnography is a 3 hour workshop covering the communication design of various social media platforms and a study into how fandoms, social media campaigns, and harassment campaigns use the specific design and infrastructure of the sites themselves to craft these campaigns.</SPAN><BR></DIV>

<P>This is part ethnography, part observation, and all exploration.</P>

<P>1-1.30 hours of workshopping and exploring</P>

<P>30 minutes to present</P>
<P>Does the design of a social media platform determine how language is amplified and how language is used and evolved? Does the infrastructure of a site shape the identity of the site itself and users within the site?</P>
