Perfect for lounging on the grass! This large quilted blanket will take your summer outings to the next level. Classic yet stylish design is easy for beginners to get into quilting. The workshop has three sessions (JUNE 8TH @1:30PM, JUNE 22ND @3:30PM, and JUNE 29TH @3PM) , where each session is focused on learning and how-to. There is plenty of time for attendees to complete the portion of the work in between sessions:
- Session 1 - Brief history of quilting, various designs, what's a block? selecting colors, cutting fabric, and piecing them together
- Session 2 - Cutting the backing, batting, and putting the quilt together. Discuss options for quilting (hand quilting, free hand machine quilting vs. long-arm quilting). We will focus on hand quilting for the workshop
- Session 3 - Binding. This is the finishing touch on the quilt and binds all the layers together! The finished blanket measures approximately 54"L x 42"W. The design and techniques covered can easily be scaled to larger sizes and different dimensions.
Duration: Each session is one hour long.
What's included: Cutting tools, use of sewing machines and iron, safety pins, thread. You can bring your own fabric, thread, safety pins, and batting or purchase from the store. If you have a sewing machine that you are familiar with already, feel free to bring it. Otherwise, you are welcome to use our supplies and tools in between sessions to complete your work.
Pricing (without materials): $235
Pricing (with materials): $299. We use 100% cotton fabric for quilting and recommend that you do the same. Your finished piece will look similar to the sample shown. Backing and edging fabric is available in navy, maroon and dark green.If you choose to bring your own fabric, here is what we recommend for a shopping list:
- At least 3 different patterns of Cotton fabric - 1 yard of each
- Solid Cotton Fabric - Choose a contrasting color to the patterned fabrics you chose - 3 yards
- Batting - Get a size that's large enough for your quilt. Most battings are sized the same as bed sizes. Full size is what we will be using.
- Large safety pins (at least 2" long)
