At Hawkesbury Regional Gallery we offer a changing program of exhibitionsupholding the Hawkesbury's artistic and creative heritage while showcasing the new and original.All exhibitions aim to be thought-provoking, challenging and educational.We also have events and programs for people of all ages who want to learn about art, and make the most of their gallery experience.

Come and learn this stunning quilting technique with quilting artist, Sandra Lyons.

English Paper Piecing (EPP) is a patchwork technique where fabric is tacked over paper shapes (often diamonds or hexagons) and then these shapes are sewn together. Makers can accurately create simple or complex designs by using colour placement and interesting fabric. It is an addictive and portable pastime as the hand stitching of small pieces can be done anywhere. Early women used this technique to create quilts and beautiful coverlets for display around the home and it is still very popular with contemporary quilters.The workshop will focus on the Tumbling block effect seen in the quilt &#x27;Miss Grace&#x27;s Quilt&#x27; on display in the exhibition. This design includes a simple block made from three diamonds in dark medium and light fabrics. It is the placement of the fabrics which creates the desired effect.If there are any participants who would prefer to turn their tumbling blocks into six pointed stars an alternative kit can be selected. Although the principles are the same, this piece is a little more advanced and makers can have fun with cutting the fabric for the stars using the templates.Workshop participants will create a piece approx. 12 inch (30cm)square, which can then be grown upon at home, or used on a cushion or bag.Each participant will receive a premade kit for the workshop. Upon booking you will be asked which kit you would like. If you do not have a booking you will not be able to attend.</li><li>Hand sanitiser station at entry.</li><li>Signage displayed at the facility with COVID-19 messages.</li><li>We are vigilant in adhering to the most up-to-date State and Federal government guidelines.</li></ul>Cancellation/refund polices:<ul><li>To receive a full refund (minus an admin fee of 10% of session cost), please cancel your ticket or notify the gallery before 48 hours of the scheduled event. If less notice is given, a refund will not be issued.</li><li>Refunds will not be given if participants change their mind, or simply forget to attend the event. For exceptional circumstances, refunds may be issued at the discretion of the Gallery Director.</li><li>A refund can take up to 7 working days to process after the event date (due to bank transfer times). Cash payment refunds can take up to 6 weeks to process.</li></ul>
