Quilted Memory Collage

Quilted Memory Collage

Pittsburgh Center For Creative ReusePittsburgh, PA
Sunday, June 7  •  6 PM - 8 PM
Overview

Join our Artist in Residence, Sara Jean Ruiz, in making a Quilted Memory Collage!

In this workshop we will learn how to print childhood images/meaningful memories onto fabric sheets with an inkjet printer. We will use these prints to create a quilted collage onto a vintage handkerchief. No previous sewing experience required!

*When you register, please email any personal photos you'd like to incorporate into your piece to programs@pccr.org. There will be miscellaneous vintage photos provided for those who don't email photos ahead of time.

Sara Jean Ruiz is a textile artist working with words, recycled materials, and the desire to be loved like a baby. Her work focuses on memory and creating tangible expressions of grief, care, and longing as it relates to her experience with complex-PTSD.

Creative Reuse is a supportive space, open to folks with any level of artistic ability. Our goal is to foster expression and creative community, not perfection. Just bring an open mind– we’ll cover the rest (including materials!).
