This Spokane Pride event is for the whole AEC community and we hope that all will join us to highlight, learn from, and support our queer AEC community. W﻿SU's Design Activism Society students will share a presentation: 'Exploring Queer Histories in Placemaking.'A﻿ speaker panel of regional AEC professionals will share some of their experiences as queer people in AEC, insight into the why and how of gender-neutral spaces, workplace structures that can help or hinder LGBTQIA+ safety and inclusion, and more. Speaker Panel:<ul><li>Alana Shepherd (she/her), founder and lighting designer of Intangible Light, founder of the North American Coalition of Lighting Industry Queers (NACLIQ), and co-founder of Spokane Pride in Architecture, Design, and Engineering (SPADE)</li><li>Matt Thompson, (he/him), Assoc. IIDA | Experience Manager at OpenSquare, IIDA-NPC VP of Signature Events, LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group Co-Lead</li><li> Sarah Nelson-Woynicz (she/her), founder of Pride by Design, Project Architect at HKS</li><li>David Edwards (he/him), Professor of Architecture at Spokane Community College</li><li>Moderated by Brandon Rapez Betty, Spokane Transit Authority COO</li></ul>The panel will be followed by a happy hour and fundraiser raffle to benefit Spectrum Spokane.This will be a hybrid event, if you can attend in-person please do. If you would like to attend virtually, please register for the 'Remote Attendance" and a Zoom link will be shared.
