FAQ:
Q: What is Square Dancing?
A: Square dancing is a traditional American folk dance that involves four couples arranged in a square formation. Each couple stands on one side of the square, facing the center. The dance is characterized by a series of steps and movements that are called out by a "caller." These calls are choreographed patterns that the dancers follow in time with the music.
Q: What are the square dance calls?
A: Example of a Basic Call Sequence:
Circle Left/Right: All dancers join hands and walk in a circle to the left or right.
Do-Si-Do: Dancers pass each other right shoulder to right shoulder, circle back-to-back, and return to their original positions.
Swing Your Partner: Partners link arms and turn around each other.
Promenade: Partners walk around the square in a counter-clockwise direction.
