I operate on Queer Standard Time. Can I arrive late?

While normally we embrace Queer Standard Time, we ask that you arrive fashionably on time for this event. Because it requires logistical planning based on the number of people who attend, we cannot accommodate people who show up more than 15 minutes late.

There is free 2-hour street parking along 200 South and 500 West and free unlimited parking on 300 South. During construction (~January - August), you are allowed to park in any of the parking lots behind our building along 500 West.

Meet new friends, lovers, partners, roommates, platonic soulmates, and more at Queer Speed Date!

Join us on the last Friday of every month for Queer Speed Date, a fun and safe space to create queer community in all its forms. Unlike hetero speed date, queer speed date celebrates all forms of relationships: friendships, platonic partnerships, romantic relationships, sexual partnerships, family groups, polycules, and more.

How it works

Read the book of the month, come to Under the Umbrella, and strike up conversation with new people! Purchasing the monthly book pick or even reading it is not required. This event also features the Queer Speed Date conversation cards to get the banter flowing.

Buy a Book Ticket (comes with a copy of the book of the month from Under the Umbrella)

Water will be provided and additional snacks and drinks are available, which means individuals may be unmasked for short amounts of times while eating and drinking during the event. Please plan according to your level of safety.
This event requires standing up and sitting down every 4 minutes. If you require any accessibility accomodations, please reach out to xiamu@speedyqueers.com.
18+ ONLY
This event starts at 6 pm! It requires logistical planning based on the number of people who show up. If you show up later than 6:15, we may not be able to accommodate you. No refunds for late arrivals.
The event ends at 8 pm. Guests are expected to stay for the full duration.
