Queer Iftar
An intimate community gathering for LGBTQ+ Muslims to break fast and honor our ancestors
Honoring Our Strangeness, Honoring Our Lineage
This Ramadan, we gather as queer Muslims to affirm that we are living testaments to a tradition that began as something strange and as the prophet SAW said will return to being strange. In that strangeness, we find belonging.
As we break bread, we honor our ancestors. Those who lived, loved, resisted, and worshipped in truth before there were words like “queer.” Their courage lives on in us.
From the circles of tawaf to the running of Hajar between Safa and Marwa, we are reminded that faith is movement, resilience, and return. The Divine transcends every boundary imposed upon us. Creation exceeds every category we try to contain it within.
Join us for an evening of remembrance, affirmation, prayer, and community. Come as you are! Fully Muslim, fully queer, fully beloved.
All proceeds will go towards Indigenous Roots to support families impacted by ICE in Minnesota.
Doors will open at 6pm, and the program will begin promptly at that time. We will break our fast together at 7pm.

This event is a grassroots initiative led by queer and trans Muslims, creating an intentional and sacred space for those who have felt excluded or rejected. Who We Are:
Amader Dawat is a Bangladeshi and Bengali queer and trans led grassroots collective based in NYC. Rooted in radical care and the tradition of dawaats (gatherings), we aim to foster community, connection, and empowerment by standing with all oppressed people. We strive to build celebratory and safe spaces by synergizing arts, culture, and political education. Our core mission is queer liberation-we firmly believe no one is free until we are all free.
Al-Wāsi' Collective is an expanding circle of Muslims in NYC building an inclusive, spiritual community rooted in the Qur'an. We host weekly Jummah prayer virtually and in-person, throughout the city.
Marigold Seeds Collective is a grassroots collective for LGBTQ+ South Asians/Indo Caribbeans based in NYC.
