Are you curious about pickleball? Or are you a seasoned player looking for more community? Whether you're entirely new or a pro, we invite you to join us at Portland Tennis & Education for our first ever QTBIPOC Pickleball PDX event!

This is an event to make pickleball more accessible to queer and trans Black and Indigenous people and people of color, including but not limited to people who are Asian, Hispanic, Latinx, and SWANA. We welcome all intersecting identities, including mixed race and adopted people. Allies to these communities are also welcome.

This event will be a friendly and social place to learn pickleball rules, play with friends, and connect with others in the community. At the top of every hour, we'll host a short beginners workshop to learn the basics of the game. We'll be running six courts total, with some reserved for new players and some for more advanced players. Come for a bit or stay the whole night!

This is a free event. Paddles and balls will be availabe. We'll have water and have some food available (we'll update you if we end up ordering food or grilling!). Please feel free to bring your own food and drinks.

Portland Tennis & Education is a non-profit social impact racquet center that providers afterschool and summer education for kids, a large number of whom come from Spanish speaking homes. In addition to providing the space for free, they are also offering 30% off any merch from their shop!

Frequently asked questions

What's the parking like?

There is limited parking in front of and behind the building. Street parking is free at this time and there is a park within a block that has ample parking. Buses also run along Lombard.

What are the bathrooms like?

We will put signs that designate that bathrooms are gender neutral. There are single occupancy bathrooms outside as well.

Can allies attend?

Yes! We ask that allies help encourage QTBIPOC players to enjoy the game. This can look like making sure they get ample time on the courts and encouraging their play.
