QPR is a simple process that ANYONE (13 years and above) can be trained to use, to help save the life of a person who is in crisis.

During this FREE two hour training, participants will learn:

  • Myths and facts about suicide
  • How to recognize the signs that a person may be suicidal
  • How to ask Questions to assess the situation
  • How to Persuade the person to stay alive long enough to get help
  • How to Refer them to a professional for help to get them through the crisis and treat any underlying mental illness

Is there an age restriction for this class?

Attendees must be at least 13 years old to attend this program independently. Anyone younger than 13 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

The mission of the Community Health Education Center (CHEC) is to inform and empower patients, families, community members, and hospital staff by providing accurate health information. Visiting the CHEC can be an important step in finding health information, wellness programs, and services in our community.

CHEC services are available to anyone in our community, regardless of whether they are currently a patient at Salem Hospital.

Scholarships: Financial assistance is available to those who need help to attend our programs. We may be able to offer a discount and/or waive registration costs depending on the situation. Please call our staff if you need assistance.

Refund Policy: We will allow refunds if requested at least seven days prior to the first class session. Any refund requests made less than seven days before the first class session may be granted in the event of a medical or personal emergency. No refunds will be given once a program begins. In the event of program cancellation, the CHEC will automatically issue a refund to all attendees.
