Q-CIT Observational Certification Training

The Kansas Head Start Association (KHSA) is dedicated to strengthening early learning programs through advocacy, education and leadership. Founded in 1997, KHSA represents all 29 Head Start programs in Kansas, creating a unified voice and point of contact for partners and policymakers.

Q-CIT OCT provides training on evidence-based observational measures of the quality of caregiver-child interactions in child-care settings.

Quality of Caregiver–Child Interactions for Infants and Toddlers, (QCIT) Observational Certification Training (OCT)Description: The QCIT OCT will provide participants with a 5-day training on the evidence-based observational measure of the quality of caregiver–child interactions in early care and education settings that serve infants and toddlers (i.e., family child care and center-based settings). This training can support a deeper understanding of how that quality can inform professional development, evaluation, monitoring, research, and administrator decision making.Learning Objectives:<ul><li>Explain what the QCIT tool measures</li><li>Identify effective practices for each QCIT dimension</li><li>Score observations of early care and education settings using the QCIT measure</li></ul>Who should attend: Region VII education managers, leaders, and coaches who are interested in becoming QCIT certified observers. Sponsored by: Kansas Head Start Association, Mathematica, Region VII Training and Technical Assistance (TTA)When:<ul><li>Pre-training – online (independently): Approximately 4 hours during the week prior to training (Week of October 31st) </li><li>QCIT OCT: November 7 - 11, 2022 8:30 – 5:30 (CST) via Zoom</li></ul>Cost: $740.00 includes training, print and electronic materials, and certification testing.
