Summary:

Backend Technologies and Why they are Important: Python Flask as an example

Topics Covered:

-- Web Frameworks
-- Flask as an example
-- Templates engine

Workshop:
--Sample flask app applications (what is it good for?)

Description: Have you worked on a project lately and thought you would love to be able to connect the front end to the backend, or the reverse? In this workshop and presentation hybrid we will learn about what a  backend is in a nutshell, why would you need to create one (i.e. use cases) and examples of frameworks and tools that can be used in the process. We will build an example Flask app as practice for beginners.

To save time, it is recommended that participants bring a fully charged laptop with the following installed (tools, libraries, dependencies, etc):

0. Python 2.7 and up is a must (lets not work with Python 3.0),
1. python pip (pip is a python package manager that makes python libraries installation a breeze
2. Flask ("pip install flask" should do the job if you have pip installed and using unix/linux)
3. Better to have Linux/Unix laptop. Windows laptops are more work but we can make it)
4. Text editor like sublime


Workshop Presenter: Yonatan Shimroni - Software Engineer and entrepreneur. Currently working in the entertainment industry with high profile celebrities. Favorite technologies: Python, Javascript, HTML5, SQL, AWS


This is an independent study group meeting to learn about Python Flask as a backend microframwork.
