Frequently asked questions

What is a PR?

PR stands for "personal record". In the world of strength training, it's a goal of many folks to see how much weight they can lift for 1 repetition.

What is the Queer Care Fund?

The Queer Care Fund is a project of the Reproductive Freedom Fund of New Hampshire and 603 Equality that donates its funds to help support health care for our LGBTQIA+ community.

How does the deadlift event work? I've never done something like this before...

That's ok - our event is beginner friendly! We will walk each participant through the process, no matter what their experience level is. We will also send out a "what to expect" email to all participants prior to event day.

Do I need to know how to deadlift to participate in the deadlift event?

No! Our highly qualified coaches would be happy to introduce you to how fun deadlifting can be at our event.

Is deadlifting safe?

Yes! With proper instruction and good form, deadlifting is completely safe. *We recommend all folks check with their doctor before starting an exercise program.

What is an opener?

An "opener" is the 1st weight you wish to attempt for 1 repetition for a barbell deadlift. Each participant will get 3 attempts to lift as much weight as they'd like. We will ask you what your opener is so that we can organize the participants, but this can be changed, even on event day.

Is this a 21+ event?

No! This event is open to all ages. *If a minor wishes to participate in the deadlift event, their parents/guardian will need to sign a waiver of liability and be in attendance for their participation.
