When: Wednesday, May 4, 2022 from 6-8pmBrief Description: Innovative and fun art collecting event in which you get to invest in a new art concept involving over 30 Triangle area artists. PROTOTYPE is the third and final show Pop Box Gallery is hosting in its residency at Boxyard RTP. Featuring 41 artworks by Triangle area artists, this exhibition achieves two things. It challenges the participating artists to use a pentaprism as their medium and it offers art collectors of various preferences and means to collect works that celebrate and reflect the incredible creativity, innovation, and artistic talent of the Triangle.Perhaps you’re an experienced collector or new to collecting. Maybe you are motivated to collect art because of the beauty you see in it or you are an enterprising individual seeking to invest in art for growth. Regardless of your motivation to collect art, there is a piece of artwork in PROTOTYPE for all interests and the prices are accessible to many. But…the competition to collect these rare works will be stiff.The Special OpportunityThe PROTOTYPE Collectors Preview will provide 25 collectors with the opportunity to have first pick of the artworks in the exhibition. At the event, the collectors will be invited to look closely at the artworks which are displayed across a single wall with only two data points: the art itself and a sticker indicating the price. Will you take a risk on the unknowns? Will you get the piece you desire most? It depends on a few factors: your ticket type, your budget; and your connection with the art. See the rules below for more information.Proof of ConceptFor co-founders Laura Ritchie and Mavis Gragg, this Boxyard RTP residency has been a prototype in and of itself. We wanted to demonstrate that there is room for art and artists in unexpected spaces, including a raw, 320 square foot shipping container in the center of innovation and creativity- Research Triangle Park. We also set out to demonstrate that art collecting can be accessible to all. We’ve proven the concept WORKS! And now we want to celebrate with you by delighting in fine beverages and hors d’oeuvres.Rules:1. Event Ticket: Five (5) tickets in the amount of $250 will be available. These ticket holders will have a $225 credit towards an art piece(s) in the PROTOTYPE show. They also can bring a +1 to the event. Twenty (20) tickets in the amount of $75 will be available. These ticket holders will have a $50 credit towards an art piece in the PROTOTYPE show. 2. Revenue for Artists. Artists will receive the full purchase price for purchased pieces.3. Supporting Art in the Triangle. Ticket holders are invited to purchase pieces from the show. However, you are not required to. If you do not purchase a piece of work your ticket purchase will support Pop Box Gallery, a zero-commission initiative. We will put your contribution to good work for art.4. Selection Priority. The five $250 ticket holders will be get first dibs (selection) of the pieces. $225 of the ticket purchase goes towards the purchase price. The 20 $75 ticket holders will be next in priority. Collectors who do not participate in this special event will be able to purchase pieces on a first come, first served basis following this event. 5. Artwork Selection. From 6:00-6:30pm, the $250 ticket holders will be invited into the gallery to view and purchase artworks from the PROTOTYPE show. Then, from 6:30-8, the $75 ticket holders will be invited to view and purchase artworks from the PROTOTYPE show.6. Artwork Purchase. You must complete the purchase of your selected art work at the event. We will not hold your selection for a later purchase. 7. Purchases of Multiple Pieces. Collectors may purchase as many pieces as you like! #buymoreart8. Payment Method. Credit or debit card purchases only.9. Take it Home. All purchased pieces should be taken the night of the event. Alternatively, you can collect your piece by the final day, May 7, 2022, during open hours.10. All 👏🏾 Sales 👏🏾 Are 👏🏾 Final.
