Prototype is in our 10th year of operations! We need your support as we complete our first decade.
Over the past ten years, our member-driven, volunteer-powered nonprofit has grown from one small space in the historic Blumcraft Building. Now occupying two locations in Oakland and Sharpsburg, our queer feminist, trans-led makerspace has served hundreds of people in the greater Pittsburgh region by offering monthly workshops, affordable co-working spaces, and access to cutting-edge digital technology. In addition, our small business incubators have helped over two dozen local creatives launch new enterprises, while our Maker to Manufacturer Program prepared low-income participants for new careers in manufacturing. Help us reach our goal of $10,000 so we can continue to make a big impact in our community!
Your Impact!
Your financial support enables us to provide high-quality programming, share skills, and build community. Donate today so we can update or replace our well-loved analog equipment, such as soldering irons and silk screens. Help us expand the local Mesh radio network so we can practice staying connected when it matters most. Acquiring new equipment such as an electronics workbench and our own server will enable us to level up into our next decade of operations!
Every donation offsets our monthly operating expenses, and allows us to continue hosting workshops where No One is Turned Away for Lack of Funds (NOTAFLOF). Together, we can make arts and technology accessible for all!
Protobabe Brunch x Sharpsburg: September 26th
Join us on Saturday, September 26th 2026 from 11am-1pm at our Sharpsburg location (606 Main Street) for waffles, coffee, and drinks. Get a tour of the Sharpsburg co-working space and check out the maker equipment available onsite. All donations help keep our wheelchair-accessible Sharpsburg space open! No tickets necessary -- this event is open house style, feel free to drop on by!
