From cutting-edge documentaries that give depth to today’s headlines to smart, stunning films that push artistic and intellectual boundaries in all genres, Women Make Movies (WMM), a non-profit feminist social enterprise based in New York, is the world’s leading distributor of independent films by and about women. Our Production Assistance Program assists women directors with their productions from concept through completion with fiscal sponsorship, consultations and other technical assistance. We work with creative, ground-breaking films which win awards at festivals around the world. Films and filmmakers we have supported have been nominated for or won Academy® Awards in 12 of the past 13 years.REFUND POLICY |No refunds will be given for any workshop registrations.  If you are unable to make the workshop but notify us up to 24 hours prior to the actual workshop date, you may receive a credit for another workshop within one year. Workshops may be cancelled by WMM due to insufficient enrollment. All instructors are subject to change.

In this session, led by Proposal and Grant Writer, June Chua, we'll guide you on how to craft proposals that not only tell but vividly “show”. Learn to answer questions with precision yet infuse proposals with the heart of your narrative even when your film is still in the shaping process.  Join us for a session that uncovers the nuances of narrative crafting on the page—how detailed to be and what to leave out for maximum impact. Addressing common proposal questions such as why this story, why now, and why you as the filmmaker, this session will guide you on how to formulate compelling responses and will include proposal excerpts from prior funded proposals for analysis. Whether you are a first-time filmmaker or a seasoned pro, don't miss this opportunity to elevate your documentary film proposal writing skills.
