The return of this hands-on workshop propagating California native plants from seed for the warm season.

Summer is right around the corner! Which means only a select few seeds can tolerate being planted during the hot months. Learn the ins and outs of propagating California native plants from seed during the warm season. This hands-on workshop covers basic seed physiology, seed viability, germination cues, pretreatments, sowing and aftercare.

This informative course is suitable for both professionals and anyone interested in learning propagation techniques for their home or community garden. Each student will take home the seeds they’ve sown! All materials provided. Class includes a tour of TPF seed facilities.

Seed kits include:

  • reusable flats, pots and plug trays
  • 10 species of warm season seeds
  • tags
  • comprehensive sowing + resource guide

This class takes place indoors and outdoors. Please wear closed-toe shoes, bring water and sun-protection.

Ella Andersson is TPF's Chief Botanical Technician and a certified horticulturalist with many years of expertise. Her focus is on the conservation and preservation of our local and regional habitats, and on facilitating resilient garden spaces that support healthy ecosystems and create connectivity and joy.
