About this event

  • 1 hour

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on families and the childcare sector, with disparities across different groups. Our latest research provides a comprehensive look at how the pandemic affected early care and education in the City of Hartford.

Utilizing City of Hartford administrative data, surveys of childcare providers, and parent focus groups, our study offers a local perspective on the changes in enrollment, attendance, and child development during the pandemic. While some findings align with expectations, others reveal surprising insights.

Join us on May 2 at 10am for an in-depth discussion of our research findings and the City of Hartford's response strategies based on these revelations. This webinar will shed light on the pandemic's effects on the early care sector and outline the steps being taken to address the challenges faced by families and childcare providers in Hartford. We will also talk about other projects related to improving early childhood data to better understand the needs of children and families.

Cynthia Willner (Senior Reserch Associate at CTData) will be joined by special guests Shyleen López (Assistant Director, Early Learning at the City of Hartford Department of Families, Children, Youth and Recreation) and Courtney Parkerson (Director, The Connecticut Project).
