Project Tablao is an XBF initiative featuring our advanced-level dancers & musicians in an intimate evening of live flamenco performance.
Inspired by the traditional flamenco tablao, Project Tablao dancers and musicians come together without a prior rehearsal. Everyone arrives prepared with their choreography but ready to listen, adapt, and respond to whatever the evening brings. They will present choreographed and composed pieces while exploring the communication and spontaneity that make live flamenco what we all know and love.
The performance will feature Xianix Barrera’s advanced-level dancers, who are developing their skills as solo performers, alongside Jonathan Pérez-Vento, a student of Ricardo Sánchez who is developing his skills in flamenco guitar accompaniment and solo performance. Project Tablao gives these emerging artists the opportunity to strengthen their craft by working together with professional artists in a live setting.
The Project Tablao series will include two performances:
Fall Performance (Sept 27)
Featuring Freddy Ruiz, Raquel Aurelia, Sofia Ramello, and Valeria Perez.
Spring Performance (Date TBD)
Featuring Candi Rodriguez, Maria Fernanda Garcia, Sofia Sanchez, and Vinay Maloo.
Audience members can expect two warm, energetic evenings celebrating the dedication and growth of XBF’s performers. Come experience flamenco up close and support the next generation of dancers and musicians as they take their training from the studio to the stage!
