~ Project Imagination ~
Project Imagination’s mission is to destigmatize mental health through art, self-expression, and community.
✦ART: Increase mental health awareness by providing affected individuals with the platform to rekindle their passions and share their art with the society.
✦SELF-EXPRESSION: Foster open dialogue through discussions and conversations about mental health expressed from the perspective of the affected individual.
✦COMMUNITY: Bring together diverse individuals from our community to support our common goal of destigmatizing mental health.
 
~ The Event ~
Join us Thursday, April 5 at Santropol Roulant for an art expo launch party celebrating the work and achievements of George Harris. Harris is a Meals-on-Wheels client at Santropol Roulant who has had a rewarding career in architecture. With a Master’s degree in architecture from Yale University and experience working with high profile architects such as Peter Rose and Charles Moore in New York and California, Harris has established himself in the industry. After being diagnosed with schizophrenia, Harris became unable to work. Despite this, he maintained his passion for architecture through his “imaginary projects.” Today, Harris lives with his roommates Rick and David in Montreal, where all three of them share a common struggle with mental health. Project Imagination provides a creative platform for Harris to showcase his talent for architecture while highlighting his story on mental illness. Your attendance at Project Imagination supports our initiative to destigmatize mental health through art, self-expression, and community. 
 
~ Accessibility ~
The building is wheelchair accessible through the front door with an elevator to move between floors. There is an accessible, single-occupancy gender neutral washroom on the 1st floor. Project Imagination a pour but de déstigmatiser la maladie mentale à travers l’art, l’expression de soi et la communauté.
✦ART: Conscientiser les gens sur la maladie mentale en offrant aux gens affectés une plateforme qui leur permettra de ranimer leur passion et de partager leur art avec la communauté.
✦EXPRESSION DE SOI: Favoriser un dialogue ouvert à travers des discussions sur la maladie mentale, animé par des individus affectés par celle-ci
✦COMMUNITY: Rassembler divers gens de la communauté autour d’un même but: déstigmatiser la maladie mentale.
~ L’évènement ~
Rejoignez-nous le jeudi 5 avril au Santropol Roulant pour une exposition d’art qui aura but de célébrer le travail de George Harris. Harris est un client de Meals-on-Wheels chez Santropol Roulant qui eut une carrière bien remplie dans le domaine de l’architecture. Ayant une maîtrise de l’université de Yale et ayant travaillé aux côtés d’architectes de renom tel que Peter Rose et Charles Moore à New-York et en Californie, Harris s’est bel bien établi dans le domaine. Après avoir été diagnostiqué schizophrène, Harris fût obligé de cesser sa pratique. Malgré tout, il continua à alimenter sa passion pour l’architecture en créant de toutes pièces des “projets imaginaires”. Aujourd’hui, George vit à Montréal avec ses colocataires et amis Rick et David qui luttent aussi contre la maladie mentale. Project Imagination offre une plate-forme créative qui permet à George Harris d’exposer ses talents d’architecte tout en partageant sa perspective sur la maladie mentale. Votre présence au Project Imagination supporte notre initiative de déstigmatisation de la maladie mentale à travers les arts, l’expression de soie ainsi que la communauté. Les frais d’admission sont sous contribution volontaire et tous les profits iront à l’artiste ainsi qu’au Santropol Roulant.
 
~ Accessibilité ~
La location possède les installations nécessaires pour recevoir les chaises roulantes par la porte d’entrée. Il y a aussi un ascenseur pour faciliter le déplacement entre les étages. Il y a une salle de bain à occupation simple au premier étage. L’autobus accessible le plus près des lieux est l’autobus 55 au coin de la rue Roy et Saint-Laurent.
