In this workshop, marketing and branding will be de-mystified  so that you can feel more confident promoting your artistic practice.

How can you market yourself in a way that draws desired opportunities for your career as an artist? In this interactive workshop, artists Micah Kraus and Nicole Kurtz present branding and marketing case studies from the business and art worlds that explore the struggles and experiences of practicing artists. They will de-mystify marketing and branding terms so that participants feel confident applying them to their own artistic practice. You’ll gain specific tools to develop and apply your own story-brand to marketing and communications efforts. MICAH KRAUS is an artist and educator living in Akron, Ohio. He operates Work Studio LTD, an art and design studio specializing in printmaking-based processes for fine art and client-based projects. Kraus has shown in solo and select group exhibitions regionally and nationally. He has engaged in community-based public art projects through organizations like East Akron Community House, Lock 3 Summer Arts Experience, Door 2 Studios, Summit Artspace, Akron Art Museum, Lululemon Athletica, and Fleet Feet Cleveland. A former art instructor at Archbishop Hoban High School, Kraus has led students in the development of artistically expressive skills for more than 21 years. His students engage with arts professionals in the Akron area and are recognized in regional and national art competitions. Micah Kraus has a BA in Art Education and an MA in Printmaking from Kent State University. NICOLE KURTZ is an artist dedicated to using her skills to help others get the most out of their education. She has worked as an exhibit designer, forensic animator for the courtroom, developer of card games, and as a scientific illustrator on research ships. Her passion lies in figuring out the best way to visually communicate complex topics with humor. Nicole lives in Austin, Texas, where she operates Aducate Digital. She translated her Instructional Design and Brand Marketing experience into a successful business for the service support industry.
