This is the second of two, eight hour courses, each offered over two days on the following dates and times:
- Wednesday, March 20th, and Thursday, March 21st, from 1:00 - 5:00 PM
- Wednesday, April 3rd, and Thursday, April 4th, from 1:00 - 5:00 PM
These free courses are intended for farms that grow, harvest, pack or hold produce on their farming operation. It allows farms covered under the Produce Safety Rule, as well as those operating within the Wisconsin Local Food Purchasing Assistance (WI LFPA) program, to meet a training requirement.
Each course is limited to 40 participants. Registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served and closes March 20th to allow time for mailing materials, so registration today to guarantee your preferred seat!
The course curriculum covers:
- Introduction to produce safety
- Worker health, hygiene and training
- Soil amendments of animal origin
- Wildlife, domesticated animals and land use
- Agricultural water
- Post-harvest handling and sanitation
- How to develop a farm food safety plan
Participant attendance and engagement will be monitored.
Participants will only be eligible for the PSA/AFDO Certificate of Course Completion if they are present for all modules of the course.
Technological requirements include a functioning computer or mobile device with video and audio capabilities and strong internet connectivity. You must be able to log in, utilize video, audio, and engagement functions like chat boxes and polls.
