About this event

  • 5 hours 30 minutes

This class is for Oregon behavioral healthcare peers / mentors including:

  • Certified Recovery Mentors from the Substance Use Disorder field or
  • Peer Support Specialists / Traditional Healthcare Workers from the Mental Health field

who want to improve their skills in serving folks experiencing gambling harm. Peers working in mental health and substance use disorders often observe gambling challenges within their clients. The class provides a basic overview of problem gambling peer skills and highlights overcoming stigma, financial elements, the gambling cycle, and brain functioning.

The course is not for becoming a CGRM, which requires taking the 40-hour CGRM course.

This is a required course for designated PG Peer Specialists working in an OHA approved Intergrated Co-Occuring Disorder (ICD) Program. This is a required course for ICD and THW/PSS/CRM Gambling Specialization and offers 16 CEU's / class hours. (Note, before 2024, this course was 8 hours.) Completing this class enables an agency to bill medicaid for problem gambling peer services if the agency is an OHA Approved Integrated Co-Occuring Disorder (ICD) Program or an OHA contracted PG treatment provider submitting to PG Net.
