Learning about the state models for private execution with public shared state through industry-leading developers with delendum research

<p>ZKPs allow transactions to prove their state transition was valid, without revealing anything about what it was. But this isn't enough, because useful applications require shared state, which ZKPs can't provide. Alan Szepieniec | co-founder of Neptune</h3><p>Title: Ghost-Queen Chess</p><p>Description: Ghost-Queen Chess is a variant of chess where the opponent's queen is invisible. In addition to being fun and academically interesting, this game is also the perfect metaphor for complex financial contracts that might one day live on the blockchain. This presentation introduces Ghost-Queen Chess and uses it as a running example with which to explore the design space of private execution on blockchains.</p><h3>3. Wei Dai | research partner at Bain Capital Crypto</h3><p>Title: Pesca: A Privacy-Enhancing Smart-Contract Architecture </p><p>Description: This talk presents PESCA, a framework for building blockchains supporting on-chain confidential compute without additional trust assumptions, via standard building blocks such as threshold fully homomorphic encryption (FHE). We discuss an application design pattern that combines zero-knowledge off-chain compute with on-chain confidential FHE compute to their strength, where on-chain FHE state is minimized and independent of the number of users.</p><h3>4. Binyi Chen | chief cryptographer at Espresso Systems</h3><p>Title: VERI-ZEXE: Decentralized Private Computation with Universal Setup</p><p>Description: [Bowe et al. 2018] introduced a decentralized private computation (DPC) scheme called ZEXE, which allows users to execute arbitrary computations off-chain without revealing the program logic to the network. Moreover, transaction validation takes only constant time. However, ZEXE required a separate trusted setup for each application. We propose a new DPC instantiation VERI-ZEXE that is highly efficient and requires only a single universal setup to support an arbitrary number of applications. Our benchmark improves the state-of-the-art by 9x in transaction generation time and by 2.6x in memory usage.</p><h3>D﻿iscussion Panel (30 mins)</h3><h3>----------------------------------------------</h3><p>Delendum ZKP Panel Series invite speakers who are taking different methodologies and exploring different constructions to come together and discuss the possibilities of a more compatible, unified, and standardized framework. </p><p>We are also open to advise projects, provide reviews, and co-author research publications.
