Join AIA Milwaukee for a tour of the Pritzker Military Archives Center. The recently completed facility in southeast Wisconsin accommodates the expanding collections of Chicago’s Pritzker Military Museum and Library. With insights provided by the distinguished project team from Jahn/, attendees can tour through the expansive gallery center and surrounding landscape. Open to AIA members from both Milwaukee and Chicago chapters, this event enables attendees to earn HSW learning units while experiencing the design thinking of the final civil project by the late Helmut Jahn.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the implications of programming on building envelope, including considerations given to necessary temperature control, humidity control, and water infiltration associated with the below-grade archives.
- Examine the use of modular building systems to enhance the efficiency of both programmatic components and overall building enclosure.
- Explore the design-thinking behind the expressive steel structure and the attentive detailing methods associated with the exposed structural system.
- Investigate how the building integrates with the surrounding rural setting through the overall site design and various landscaping features.

The tour will begin promptly at 5:00PM. A significant portion of the tour will take place outdoors within the grounds of the memorial park. A notification will be sent to attendees day-of in case of inclement weather.
