For Enjoyment Artist Tutor, Julie Stephen will be returning to Studio 3 at The Gracefield arts Centre on Saturday 29th June for another popular Lino printing workshop. This will be a relaxing and creative day, where participants will get the opportunity to carve an image into lino and create a selection of prints using water soluble printmaking inks around the theme of Scottish Flora and Fauna.

IN THIS WORKSHOP: we will be learning how to cut and carve lino safely, using handheld tools to print with.

YOU CAN EXPECT TO:

• Sketch ideas and plan an image around the theme of Scottish Flora and Fauna.

• Learn how to use different printmaking equipment.

• Develop an understanding of the relief lino print process.

• Use different shaped tools to make a variety of marks, lines, and pattern.

• Learn how to burnish prints using a wooden spoon.

• Print with different coloured inks onto a variety of paper and card to create pleasing effects.

• Build confidence with layout, creating compositions and repeat prints.

Returning attendees may wish to work on previous themed prints and develop their colour reduction layers throughout the day, Julie will happily work with you all throughout the day.

Our workshops are inclusive, accessible, and available to all abilities; however, the sharp tools are not suitable for young children. Our printmaking workshops are suitable for both beginners and participants who have had experience using relief printmaking techniques. Everyone will be able to develop and expand their own skill set, and no prior experience necessary.

Our workshops are relaxed and friendly and we welcome new and returning participants to all our For Enjoyment Workshops and events.

PLEASE NOTE: The Printing for Enjoyment Workshops are 10:30 am – 3:30pm

Please wear old clothes and or bring an apron as printing inks can stain clothing.

Please along bring a packed lunch, we will stop for a 30 minute lunch, but you are welcome to take breaks at any time throughout the day.

All materials and equipment are provided; however, you may want to bring images to use as source materials for your chosen theme.
